Remote Operation

The Optimarin Ballast Water Treatment System can be operated completely remotely with or without access to the vessels’ automation system, providing the operators with full flexibility.

Do you need to remotely operate the Optimarin BWTS in a location different from the installation position ?
We can equip your vessel with either an OBS Touch Panel installed in an existing control desk, or set up a complete cabinet with a full function panel were needed.
See scenario 1 below for further details.

Scenario 1 – not connected to the vessels automation system (IAS):

  1. OBS Touch Panel >> Stand-alone full function panel for seamless installation in an existing control desk. Requires ethernet (CAT5E) cable between the Optimarin BWTS and panel and 24VDC power supply. Maximum distance on CAT5E is 100m.
  2. Sub-Control Panel >> Full function panel installed inside a cabinet. Requires ethernet cable and 400-440VAC power supply.

Do you require a complete integration into your vessels IAS ?
Optimarin BWTS may be connected to the IAS using one of three different protocols (Digital I/O, ProfiNet or OptiBus)

Scenario 2 – connected to the vessels automation system (IAS):

  1. Digital I/O (included) >> Digital signals (on/off) with the minimum required functionality to control the Optimarin BWTS.
  2. ProfiNet (included) >> Siemens communication on Ethernet. Same as “Digital I/O”, but en-ables much more Optimarin BWTS information to be shown on the IAS screen (flow, kW, pressure, tem-perature, etc.).
  3. OptiBus >> Same information as ProfiNet, only the communication is industrial bus i.e. Profibus (standard), ModBus, etc. (on request).
